When I arrived in Austin to attend the University of Texas over a decade ago, I had the typical idea of breaking into the Austin arts/music scene that I feel any Texas kid who was raised on classic rock would have. I played a number of gigs, both inside and outside of UT, but I always sort of felt like an outsider. Once I met the like-minded guys in lul, however, I quickly saw the potential for actually carving out my home in this eclectic city. I never thought that my art music background would be the foot in the door, but the fact that this group has allowed me to be an actual contributor to the Austin scene, as well as the other opportunities it has spurred on, are mind-boggling.

Outside lul, I have performed with various local groups and artists including Graham Reynolds, Tom Burritt, Panoramic Voices, Austin Chamber Music Center, Ballet Austin, Salvage Vanguard Theater, and Peter Stopschinski; and can be found in the Austin bar-scene from time to time, backing bands with such inspired names as Genuine Leather and Grapes and Friends.

Matthew Teodori founded line upon line percussion in 2009 and currently serves as its Executive and Artistic Director. He has performed with the Austin Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, Conspirare, Mid-Texas Symphony, Panoramic Voices, Roomful of Teeth, Southern Tier Symphony and the Victoria Bach Festival Orchestra.

Teodori received his Doctoral and Master's degrees from The University of Texas at Austin and his Bachelor's degree from Houghton College having studied with Dr. Thomas Burritt, Tony Edwards, Chip Ross and Jim Tiller. He currently teaches percussion at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX.

Matt loves to ride his bike uphill and cook, two hobbies that pair well together. He grew up in Richmond, VA, calls Austin home but longs for the mountains of Colorado. His favorite person on the planet is his wife of 7 years, Natalie.
